Ahmad was selected asresident at the Bellagio Center, Italy in 2012, and the following year won an award from DJKHIKemenkumham (Directorate General of Intellectual Rights) in the novel category.A portion of the royalties from the trilogy go to build Komunitas Menara, a volunteer-based socialorganization that provides free schools, libraries, clinics, and soup kitchens for the less fortunate. In 2011, Fuadi won the Liputan 6 Award, SCTV for motivation and education, IKAPIBest Writer, and First Prize for Best Fiction by Perpusnas (The National Library). The Land of Five Towers was made into a movie in 2012 and wonseveral awards. In 2004, Fuadi won the Chevening Award to study documentary filmmaking at Royal Holloway, University of London, and also the opportunity to live andlearn in Canada, Singapore and Italy. They reported on the September 11 tragedy live from the nation’s capital. While doing his studies, he also worked as correspondent for Tempo and Voice of America (VOA). In 1999, he won a Fulbright scholarship for his master studies at the School of Media and Public Affairs, George Washington University in Washington DC.
